Why can't the kindle paperwhite browse the web anymore?

I can understand why they wouldn't provide 3G internet because people abuse it too much, but you can still use local wi-fi to browse the web. Paperwhite doesn't have experimental browser anymore. Why?

The experimental browser sucks on that. Way too laggy. It's meant for reading, not surfing the web. The e-ink has to refresh and it just isn't good for web browsing.

I didn't know that.

But as a previous Kindle owner, I can't say I'm surprised. Browsing on the e-Ink Kindles is an exercise in frustration, to be used only when no other better way is available.

It does have experimental browser like those on the previous Kindles, and you can browse with WiFi, just the browser is quite basic. Here you can find experience from an actual user, using the Kindle Paperwhite for web surfing and email checking:

With 3G, you can use the Kindle Paperwhite to browse Amazon store, Google, and Wikipedia. Surfing on other sites get to be done via Wi-Fi.

Hope that helps.
