Is my rabbit really Pregnant?
I had to give away my female rabbit to a pet store for her kindling process coz I didn't have space at home.
She lived with a male rabbit of around 4-5 months and her age is like 3-4 months right now.
She started making a nest from her fur and gathered stuff from here and there,
I visit her twice in the pet shop and today, when I checked her, I didn't feel anything in her abdomen, like those marbles things.
She had nipples developed, but no marbles likes lumps in the abdomen.
She has also stopped making a nest @ the pet store.
Is this that Phantom pregnancy or Real Pregnancy?
Probably a phantom pregnancy, female rabbits typically dont becom sexually mature until 9 months old, however when they are housed with a male all those pregnancy horomones are circulating in her making her think she is expecting. If she was making a nest and she was pregnant she wouldve had them within the week.
When you touch a pregnant rabbits abdomen and she is about to birth you will beable to tell, her belly will be really tight and really round and you will be able to feel the babies moving around in there.
the marble thing is when you palpate them at 14 days after she bred. You want to have her in an open space, hold her behind the ears (like the scruff of a dog) Right behind her hips you will cup your hand around her belly and try touching your thumb and fore finger together, if she is pregnant you will then feel the marbles up in her abdomen
It is no longer your rabbit, and if she was housed with a buck while living with you she was more then likely pregnant.
When you re homed her with the pet store they may have had her spayed to prevent her from producing young.
If she is pulling her hair out then yes, my friends have two rabbits (boy and girl) and the girl got pregnant and she is pulling her hair out and then making nests out of it.
