Kindle fire is not charging?
I plugged the charger into my kindle and the little orange light on the bottom is working but in the top right the little charging thing is still red and isn't turning green or working. I've unplugged it and restarted it several times but the battery keeps going down. What's wrong with it and how can I fix it? Thanks
Were you using it while the charging cable was plugged in? Just like with laptops and cellphones, that'a pretty easy way to bend or damage the charge port.
Try this. The Kindle Fire uses a generic microSD charger. Chances are, your cellphone uses the same port. Try your cellphone charger on the Kindle Fire and the Kindle Fire charging cord on your cellphone. Don't charge from the computer, as that is much, much slower than using a USB wall charger.
If the weak link is the cable, then it's an inexpensive fix. You can simply use the cellphone charger, or buy an inexpensive microUSB cord.
BTW, Amazon is very generous with returns, if needed. B&N isn't quite as friendly (despite the rantings of serial anti-Kindle troll, JefBezos).
Quite a lot of users are having such problem. There's a user collecting different experience and write up a good discussion here, on how to fix related issues on the Kindle Fire, including not charging, battery problem, frozen screen. See if it can address your problem:
Hope that helps.
