I am interested in buying the Kindle Fire HD but am unsure about what amount of memory I will need. I will be downloading and storing books, games and music on the device and also want to use LOVEFILM for watching films and TV shows will this take up memory on the device overall even without storing the films? I only want to watch them, any help would be appreciated which would you go for?

Added (1). Thanks for answers so far was just wondering is it worth buying a Kindle Fire HD as I see they have been out for about a year now are they still up to date? Thank you

Buy the one with the most internal memory you can afford as you can not add internal memory later after purchasing it. Games, music, etc will use a lot of the storage space over a period of time.

Since you'll be downloading lots of movies, music, books & games, go with 32GB model

Hi.

In 16Gb you have around 13.5Gb storage space and can download around 7 movies (5Gb), 50 apps (2Gb), 500 songs (3-4Gb) and rest you can use for misc activities. Obviously you wont keep all movies all the time. So you can even download around 10 shows in the left over space.

In 32Gb. Everything is doubled.

IMO go for the 16Gb if your usage is that much only. Keep in mind if you play heavy games then you need around 400Mb - 2Gb for one game. So that case would be different and then I would recommend the 32Gb version.

You also have the free Amazon cloud storage of around 5Gb so space wont be an issue anyway.

Hope this helped.

I suggest you also read these comments from user on 16Gb vs 32Gb, would also be helpful:

Streaming video won't cost you memory, but downloading sure will.

If you plan on downloading lots of video, get the 32gb version. Otherwise the 16gb version will do you just fine for books, games and music.

September is the time frame when Amazon has historically announced their yearly upgrades to the Kindle line. With product becoming available in October and November.

This year, the rumor is that the Kindle HD will get an even higher definition screen (unneeded in my opinion as the screen is very crisp now) and a rear facing camera for taking pics.

Only you can decide if those things matter enough to delay purchasing.
