I charge my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 inch all night long. From 10-8. When i wake up in the morning the battery is only at 68%! And the battery is like, gone in an hour! I called customer sevice and they literally gave me no help but the fact that they want to send me a new one.could someone help me figure out why this is happening so i dont have to get a new one? Thanks:)

They will send you a new one free of charge if you have warranty. What's so bad about getting a new one?

If you charge it from the usb port of your computer, it'll take 12-14 hours to charge. If your Kindle Fire HD isn't turned off, but merely in sleep mode, it takes even longer.

Just turn off your tablet completely, and plug the usb cable to a usb power plug. The standard ones work pretty well and the dedicated Amazon Kindle version is very powerful and quick.

I think you charge your Kindle Fire via USB cable. It can take quite long. Their PowerFast charger can have it charged much faster. However, the battery life sounds too short and is a bit weird. Do check with Amazon customer service and see if it's defective. It should last around 10 hours if it's fully charged.

Here you can find details on charging time with different chargers, and how to optimize the battery life:

Hope that helps.
